And here's the cover for my new Hellboy novel.
It's my 39th birthday today. What a weird age - I don't feel this old at all, yet a year from today I hit 40. Am I bothered? Nah, not really. But let's see what I say in 365 day's time.
As I mentioned yesterday, I've been in France for a week, and a few exciting things have happened:
First, I won a Scribe Award for my novelisation of the 30 DAYS OF NIGHT movie! I haven't received official details and notification yet, but the awards were announced at San Diego Comic Con last week, and the results have popped up on a few blogs across the net.
Second, got a nice picture to share with you - the copies of FALLEN and THE EVERLASTING from my UK publisher Allison & Busby. Don't they look fabulous? I've spent a long time looking forward to this day, and when I got home from France the box of books was awaiting my return.
With that, and the cover of my forthcoming Hellboy novel being sent to me (coming soon to this blog!), I'm a happy puppy.
And talking of puppies .... meet the new member of the Lebbon household, Blu. He's a Weimaraner/Viszla cross, and he's just gorgeous. He's also eating our house, but he's cute enough that we'll let him.

Just back from a wonderful week in France, and while I was away some stuff happened. So watch this space over the next 24 hours for some news, including:
The patter of more tiny feet in the Lebbon household
A recent writing award I only heard about upon my return
Two very exciting new book releases
Watched ATONEMENT last night with the missus. What a staggeringly breathtaking movie - beautiful, brutal, poetic. The much-mentioned Dunkirk scene was stunning, and every scene was impressively shot and acted. I'm a fan of McEwan's work, though I've not read this one (I think Saturday is my favourite of his so far). Must pick it up and put that right very soon.
The release date of FALLEN and THE EVERLASTING in the UK rapidly draws closer. August 11th is the official date, though my UK launch is on August 2nd in Abergavenny (1:00pm in Abergavenny Bookshop, if anyone reading this is close enough to attend!). Exciting times ... I'm doing interviews for several magazines, newspapers and radio stations, and I'm hoping to see reviews of both books appearing in various sources across the UK quite soon. As and when they do appear, I'll post details and links here.
My new Hellboy novel for Dark Horse is going well, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the new movie! It opened extremely well in the USA, which is great news (always nice to see a non-remake pulling in the crowds).
In movie-related news, a short story of mine is being optioned by a production company in LA. I'll give more details as and when contracts are signed and announcements made.
And as other people seem keen on doing this, from now on I'll be pposting what I'm reading and listening to at the time of my blog postings.
Currently reading: The Eyre Affair, Jasper Fforde - brilliant, original extremely clever and very funny.
Currently listening to: Eagles of Death Metal - Death by Sexy. More Josh Homme genius.

I'm very close to believing that LOST is the best TV series of the past few years. After Season 2, I'll admit, my wife and I lost of a bit of interest. There were the wandering plotlines, the deliberately misleading images and revelations, and that series ended very unsatisfactorily for me. We left it some time, and then decided to try Series 3.
Glad we did.
We watched the season finale last night (in one of those 'we'll only watch one episode tonight' moments when we ended up watching three), and it was stunning. I'll not say much, because there might be two or three people in the world who still haven't seen it. But it was certainly a surprise for me.
I'm looking forward to Season 4 (and I know I'm way behind for some of you, but my wife and I watch these series on DVD ... we don't have Sky, or Cable, or whatever it's called now, because as far as I'm concerned we already have a dozen channels of mostly shit, so why would we want to add another 300 channels of crap?)
The best TV these days is coming out of the USA. Fact. Although to be fair, Britain does still have Harry Hill presenting 'You've Been Framed'.
This is just terrible. If I was that writer (the first guy), I think there'd have been blood on the podium.
Here's a wonderful review of MIND THE GAP by the very wonderful Charles de Lint. This one made my day, I can tell you ...
A slew of updates coming soon, watch this space.
