Apologies if you tried to visit yesterday and were told that the site was gone. Computer gremlins, I blame. But we're back up and running now.
Over the next several months, there are going to be some exciting book announcements posted here. In fact, you'll see news of at least NINE new publications, all of which are at various levels of production, just awaiting official announcements.
Exciting times!
And here's yet more evidence.
With all the shite that passes for entertainment on TV, it takes a flash of tit and arse to get someone offended. I despair.
There's an excellent, insightful review posted here. Check it out!
And if you feel so inclined, you can order the book Here.
I took my 4 year old son Dan for a walk around the village yesterday evening, after spending a day in front of the keyboard. I needed some air, and it's not often just the two of us get out together.
It was about 6:30, the sun was down and the stars were out. He noticed them. "Look at all the stars Daddy!"
"Do you know how many stars there are?" I asked him.
"How many?"
"A thousand million million million."
"Wow," he said, suitably awed. "I'll count them all! One ... two ... three ..."
And here's the proof.
There's an interesting short interview with Stephen King here, containing one of the best quotes I've heard for ages: "Sixty's the new 50, and dead is the new alive."
I don't know about Florida, but I hope to retire to Cornwall. Got a few years left in me yet, though ...
Today, I typed 'The End' on my new fantasy novel, THE ISLAND. These two words were preceded by approximately 130,000 other words of varying length and composition. The particular combination in which I placed each of these 130,000 words makes this novel, I think, one of the best I've ever written.
I'm setting THE ISLAND aside for a bit, while I edit a YA novel I finished just befor Christmas.
Watch for more exciting website news concerning FALLEN and MIND THE GAP soon!
(Disclaimer: if my postie happens to be reading this, I don't mean it literally)
Couple of days ago, two big parcels showed up first thing in the morning, delivered by a post office driver who's becoming used to delivering big parcels of books to me. Always feels like Christmas, and this was no exception.
The first parcel contained copies of my novel BERSERK from Spring International in Taiwan. The book looks beautiful, a really nice trade paperback. Can't read a word of it, of course, other than 'Tim Lebbon' on the cover, but I'm just thrilled to see this one out there, and the thought that people in Taiwan are reading my novel about horrific happenings in Salisbury is wonderful. More translations coming soon ...!
The second parcel contained my author copies of AFTER THE WAR from Subterranean Press. This book is an object of beauty. The cover by Tomislav Tikulin is just beautiful, and the book design is everything you'd come to expect from Subterranean. I'm proud to be published by them at last (this is my first book with them, though I had a novella in Night Visions 11), and if you've read any of my Noreela novels (DUSK or DAWN) and want another taster of this world, these two novellas should be just your cup of tea.
Tomorrow ... another bit of news. Hopefully. Watch this space.
The first review of the third novella in the Assassin Series is in, and it's an absolute ssssss .... scorcher. Check it out here.
And if you want to order the book, you can get it from here or here.
Tomorrow ... a posting about the first book of mine I could not re-read.
God, he was funny!
A man walked into the doctors. The doctor said " I haven't seen you in a long time." The man replied, "I know, I've been ill."
I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.
You should check out the Fantasy Book Critic 2007 Review/2008 Preview where a whole host of writers - including ours truly - talk about their fave books of 2007, what they're looking forward to in 2008, and also what they themselves have coming up this year. It's a great article and a great blog, so give it your support.
Tim
Firstly, a slightly belated Happy New Year to you all (however many of you there are). I hope your 2008 is healthier, wealthier and sexier than ever before.
New years always seem to start with a bit of nice news, and this year is no exception. Had some very exciting news recently, but as usual it's something I can't announce just yet ... believe me, as soon as I can, I will.
And as for this blog's title ... My broadband supplier for a long time has been Wanadoo. Realising I was still paying an old rate, that doesn't seem to appear in their advertising anymore, I called them to see what they could do. Of course, I mentioned how much cheaper other suppliers were, and that seemed to galvanise them into action. The upshot of which is, I now have 3 months free broadband access, speed increased from 1mb to 8mb, and a £5 monthly reduction in my bill.
So if you want to get, ask. They sure won't come to you.
