DESOLATION

Unfortunately, my forthcoming novel DESOLATION will not now be published in hardback by Borderlands Press. Scheduling problems meant that it just couldn't happen, so the Leisure paperback edition out in March is now the exclusive edition! I'm hopeful that it will apear in hardback at some point, but it'll likely be a couple of years down the line now.

However, there's an exciting announcement involving another new novel in hardback due soon. Check out my website on March 1st for details!

Going Berserk

Everything's going Berserk. Feels like it, anyway. BERSERK is the title of the new novel I'm just about finishing up - I'm hoping to complete it the tail end of next week, and then it's off to the publisher ... and watch out soon for a very special announcement about the limited edition hardcover of this novel.

Straight after that I have to write my Hellboy novel HELLBOY: THE NEW ARK for Pocket Books, and I also have a novella to deliver to Harbinger Press by the end of March. Mad? Insane? That's how I feel at the moment ... but I love deadlines. And much as it'll stress me out, I'll never, ever moan about having to deliver a book:-)

Cover versions: I just heard the Velvet Revolver cover version of Bodies, by the Sex Pistols, and it blew me away! Stunning! Another favourite is Word Up covered by Korn. I love cover versions! (apart from Whiskey in the Jar, which Metallica killed).

Back to BERSERK. Watch out for the hardcover announcement at the beginning of March!

...

Busy.
Be back soon.
Promise!
I'll leave you with a quote that made me laugh until all the bones fell out of my body (thanks to Peter Kay):

If we're not meant to eat animals, how come they're made of meat?

HUSH

HUSH, the novel I wrote several years ago with Gavin Williams, is available for pre-order now from Delirium. They're publishing it in a sexy hardcover edition, with wonderful cover art, an Intro from Gavin and an Afterword from me. It's a very limited print run - only 200 are being produced - and last I heard there were less than 50 copies left. So if you want this one, hurry! You can order direct from Delirium at www.deliriumbooks.com , or check out the list of independent bookstores in the Links section of this site.

News coming soon about a new movie option (when contracts are signed I can announce it), and also a new novel available in hardcover ... watch this space!

Back to normal

Christmas? Glad to see the back of it. Not that I didn't have a nice time - I did. And not that I didn't eat a little more and drink a little more than usual - I did. But I'm sick to death of the rampant consumerism that has taken over. We're bombarded with 'Buy, buy, buy!' imagery for 8 weeks beforehand, then on Christmas Day the adverts begin on TV for the sales, and then everywhere you look there're bastards trying to sell you amazing new diet fads, give-up-smoking herbs and holidays to places you can't possibly afford to go after the stupid amount you've spent on Christmas.

Humbug? Yeah. Ask me if I give a fuck.

But my family and I had a nice, restrained time, using it as an opportunity to spend some time together more than anything. But now it's back to normal, and I'm glad, because at last I can get stuck back into some serious writing.

And 'serious' is what this year is going to be for me. I've told Tracey not to expect to see much of me for the first four months, as I have to finish and deliver a new novel AND write my Hellboy novel in that time. Straight after that it's into DAWN for Bantam, and interspersed between these longer works there are a couple of novellas and several short stories to write.

Stress? Deadlines? I love them!

In the next few months there'll be a few new books out. Watch here for announcements, and as usual there's some exciting news I'm hoping to announce soon, once contracts are sorted.

Lastly, I'd like to urge everyone who reads this (all 3 of you) to dig deep for the various Asian Tsunami charities. There's not much more to be said about this awful tragedy that hasn't already been said ... but most of us won't miss a few quid, and for some people it could be the difference between life and death.
