Back to normal

Christmas? Glad to see the back of it. Not that I didn't have a nice time - I did. And not that I didn't eat a little more and drink a little more than usual - I did. But I'm sick to death of the rampant consumerism that has taken over. We're bombarded with 'Buy, buy, buy!' imagery for 8 weeks beforehand, then on Christmas Day the adverts begin on TV for the sales, and then everywhere you look there're bastards trying to sell you amazing new diet fads, give-up-smoking herbs and holidays to places you can't possibly afford to go after the stupid amount you've spent on Christmas.

Humbug? Yeah. Ask me if I give a fuck.

But my family and I had a nice, restrained time, using it as an opportunity to spend some time together more than anything. But now it's back to normal, and I'm glad, because at last I can get stuck back into some serious writing.

And 'serious' is what this year is going to be for me. I've told Tracey not to expect to see much of me for the first four months, as I have to finish and deliver a new novel AND write my Hellboy novel in that time. Straight after that it's into DAWN for Bantam, and interspersed between these longer works there are a couple of novellas and several short stories to write.

Stress? Deadlines? I love them!

In the next few months there'll be a few new books out. Watch here for announcements, and as usual there's some exciting news I'm hoping to announce soon, once contracts are sorted.

Lastly, I'd like to urge everyone who reads this (all 3 of you) to dig deep for the various Asian Tsunami charities. There's not much more to be said about this awful tragedy that hasn't already been said ... but most of us won't miss a few quid, and for some people it could be the difference between life and death.
