A Lot of Nothing

If life ever gets too serious, or if you get too involved with just how important everything you do is, just surf to this article ... and you'll realise that pretty much nothing is important enough to worry about.

Talk about a mind fuck.

Strangewood

I've just finished reading STRANGEWOOD by Christopher Golden, and it's fantastic. It's taken me a while to get to this one, for some reason, and now I'm wishing I read it years ago. Anyone who knows Chris's work will recognise some of the themes, and the ideas behind some of the settings, but this has a truly original and compelling idea at its core.

Do yourself a favour and pick this one up.

Dropkick Murphys New Album!

Oh yes ... today, I'm a very happy puppy.

Check out www.dropkickmurphys.com THE MEANEST OF TIMES is their new album, out September 18th. This is truly an occasion, they're one of my favourite bands and, if the new song on their myspace page is anything to go by, this is going to be one barnstormer of an album. Do yourself a favour and check it out. Go. Now!

Oh yes ... today I'm a very happy puppy.

Fuck Camping

Just returned from a few days camping in Cornwall. Lovely camping site, great weather ... but not really a holiday!

We had a load of fun, true. The kids loved it - we found a couple of great beaches - and Tracey and I had some very enjoyable meals outdoors (Mmmm .... bread and brie and grapes and red wine ...)

But ... I think I'm someone who'll always like just a bit more comfort. Like a toilet seat that isn't warm from the previous user. A bit more privacy. And a guarantee that a bunch of thugs won't camp next to you, effing and blinding in front of your kids, drinking Carling and generally making you afraid to look their way.

Yeah. Fuck camping. Next year, it's a cottage on the coast.

DUSK and BRITISH FANTASY

I'm thrilled, delighted, and about-to-pop-a-bottle-of-beer to announce that DUSK has been nominated for a prestigious British Fantasy Award. You can read all the details here.

It's a real honour to even be nominated for this award. It's the third time I've been up in the Best Novel category, losing out the previous two times to Chaz Brenchley and China Mieville. So who knows, maybe third time lucky?
