THE EVERLASTING

Necessary Evil Press will be releasing a beautiful limited edition hardcover of my next novel THE EVERLASTING in March. Artwork is by the brilliant Caniglia. It's a ghost story ... but there's a whole lot more going on besides. I'm really proud of this book, and delighted to be working with Don at NEP and Caniglia again on the limited edition.

It's up for pre-order now:

Work Update, and Five Things

I'm just coming to the end of my second month as a full time writer, so I thought it about time I started updating this News & Views blog more regularly!

Just about finished my novelisation of the 30 DAYS OF NIGHT movie for Pocket Books. I'll be delivering it next week. I could tell you all about it, but as I had to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement, I'd then have to kill you. And as I don't know exactly how many people read this blog - or exactly who you are or where you live - that would be too time consuming. Just buy the book when it comes out.

I'm very, VERY excited about the two new novels I've just started. Firstly MIND THE GAP, the novel I'm writing with Christopher Golden based in London. It's the first of two books we're doing for Bantam Spectra in the Hidden Cities series (yes, hopefully there will be more). Chris and I have spent a long time chatting about the novel and now it's begun ... and it's going very well indeed. I love collaborating, and working with Chris is going to be a lot of fun.

Secondly, FALLEN is the next dark fantasy novel set in my world of Noreela (check out the website), also for Bantam. I've had a proposal written for some time, but over the last few days I've gone back to it to flesh it out, brainstorm and just get a real feel for the novel. I'm so excited by this book ... it's very different from DUSK and DAWN, set 4,000 years before those novels take place, and I'm having a great time researching and ... well, just letting my imagination run wild. In fact today I 'did a Rowling' (that is, I sat in a coffee shop with a notepad and did loads of work whilst sipping double-shot latte).

Yeah, I'm enjoying this life as a writer ...

There's other stuff I'm working on too, including a couple of TV series proposals (more about them if and when there's any news). I've also had 3 or 4 interviews drop into my Inbox in the space of a week, so once I know where and when they're going to appear I'll let you know.

Meanwhile Chris Golden, over at his website, has 'tagged' me to reveal 5 Things You Never Knew About Me. So, here goes:

1. My first pet was a bantam called Biddie. We kept her in a run in the garden, and I used to dash out every morning to get her eggs before she ate them herself. Strange bird. And somewhat uncanny, seeing as I am now writing many books for Bantam! Although my editor's name is not Biddie. It's Anne.

2. I met my wife by making her knuckles bleed. We were at a party, drunk, many years ago (many), and we started playing raps. This involves getting a deck of playing cards and rapping each other over the knuckles until they bleed. Ahhhhh, young love.

3. My favourite swear word when I was a young kid was Nibbles. So, my parents bought a dog and called her Nibbles. She was a sweet, lovely pet, and she lived for seventeen years. By the time she died my favourite swear word was fuck. Our poor goldfish.

4. Nobody has ever actually mistaken me for Brian Keene. Although Graham Joyce did think that Garry Charles was me, and proceeded to slap him on the bald head in a very non-politically correct manner.

5. I once had a ponytail. Honest.

So, there you are, 5 things you didn't know about me. Apparantly I have to 'tag' someone else to do this, so ... Brian Keene, you're tagged.

'Til next time,
Tim

Stories that hurt

I've just finished a story called DISCOVERING GHOSTS, which was the most difficult story I've ever written. Took me a long time, and took a lot out of me. You know the saying, sometimes you write a story, and sometimes it writes itself. Well this one wrote itself and beat me around the head and heart in the process.

It will be published in the amazing Postscripts 10, the special World Horror Convention edition of PS Publishing's exceptional magazine. Check here for details.

I've almost finished the 30 DAYS OF NIGHT novelisation, and it's been a lot of fun. After that I'm starting two new novels: the first is FALLEN, the next dark fantasy novel for Bantam, and the second is MIND THE GAP which I'm writing with Chris Golden (also for Bantam). Going to be a busy, fun few months ... and there's also other exciting news on the horizon, so please keep watching this space!
