I'm thrilled and delighted to announce that I'll be writing the novelisation of the forthcoming 30 DAYS OF NIGHT movie for Pocket Books!
Due for release next October the movie, based on the stunningly excellent comic written by Steve Niles and illustrated by Ben Templesmith, will be directed by David Slade.
I am very, very pleased.
And with tomorrow being my last day in work before I plunge into the stormy seas of full-time writing ... I am doubly pleased.
In a few days, an account of my last day in the same job I've been at for 17 years, and the leaving do tomorrow evening (I'm assuming it will take several days to recover from this ... much beer is scheduled).

... coming soon! Although if you're prepared to do a bit of detective work on Amazon.com, you may be able to discover it for yourself.
Two days left in work. State of mind today: happy.
Thursday is my last day in work. From then on, I write for a living. At the end of every single month since I was eighteen - almost twenty years - I've had a pay cheque. End of December, that changes forever.
I can't wait.
I've always wanted my own study with a wall of books, my book covers framed on the walls and a nice view into the garden. After a weekend building book shelves and generally tidying up, I now have that.
Dream come true.
In a way it all feels a little unreal, especially the fact that I'm going to be leaving the building where I've been working for seventeen years - and many people I've been working with for that long as well.
Unreal, but fantastic.
Will I miss my job? No. I'll miss the people I work with, that's about all.
Things are about to change. I'll be at home writing every day of the week, and if everything goes according to plan ... I may become prolific.
They say a change is as good as a rest, but I'm a horror writer. There's no rest for the wicked.
Here's to the future.
Today, we received our first Christmas card.
For FUCK'S SAKE......
Teignmouth, South Devon. It's always had a place in my heart. Why? Well ... something happened to me there for the first time. Nuff said.
Now, it's a more special place than ever. Last night I saw MUSE in concert, and it was quite extraordinary. These three lads from Teignmouth can certainly make some noise, and what a triumphant noise it is. A stunning stage show, a brilliant performance, this will go down as one of the best concerts I've ever been to (and I've been to a few).
If you've never listened to MUSE do yourself a favour and pick up one of their four albums. They're all classics.
Still buzzing ........
It's very exciting. I have a Non-Disclosure Agreement to sign! Of course, I can't say what it's all about. Not yet anyway.
Move over Daniel Craig. I am Bond.
Today I delivered my new novel THE EVERLASTING to Leisure Books. I'm very, very happy with it. It's a ghost story ... with so much more. Watch this space for an exciting limited edition hardback announcement very soon, and I'll also be posting a big update about other movie and book projects here soon as well.
But for now ... time to relax. Just started reading LISEY'S STORY.
